KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The current chair of the Kalamazoo County Commission is hoping to make a move to Lansing next.
Jen Strebs officially announced her bid for the 41st District State House seat Friday. Current Representative Julie Rogers will be seeking state Senate seat currently held by Sean McCann, who is running for the 4th District Congressional seat next year.
Prior to being elected to the county commission in 2021, Strebs served three years as a Kalamazoo Township trustee.
Strebs says during her tenure as chair of the county commission, she has led county-wide initiatives to relieve medical debt for more than 7,000 residents, create an 80-room transitional family shelter to help parents and kids without housing, and increase union wages by 45%; all while producing a balanced county budget.
