KALAMAZOO, MI – The suspect in a Kalamazoo murder last November has been returned from Texas to face charges in Michigan.
35-year-old Norris Deshane Baker was arraigned Tuesday on open murder and other charges in the shooting death of Paris Powe November 4, 2024.

Powe was shot to death that night in the 400 block of Egleston Avenue. Another person was shot and injured.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says Baker fled the state following the homicide and was taken into custody in December last year in Harris County, Texas. He was on parole at the time of the incident.
Besides the open murder charge, Baker is charged with five counts of felony firearm, assault with intent to murder, two counts of armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Bond was denied.
