KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The $40-million youth sports complex in Kalamazoo County is currently on hold as the county commission wants more information on a variance request to clear trees from the area.
The developer asked for the variances into protected slopes and woodlands in order to be able to build the facility and the parking lot.
The 20-acre site is next to US-131 and north of West Main Street in the Westwood area.
Discover Kalamazoo says the complex will result in over 600 full and part-time jobs and have a nearly $49-million economic impact every year.
