BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM.FM) – For anyone considering using ATVs and off-road vehicles in Calhoun County parks, the sheriff’s department is putting out a reminder that those are banned.
Assistant director of community development for Calhoun County Doug Ferrall says they can cause damage that makes it hard to maintain the trails and compromises the safety of others enjoying the parks.
If someone is caught using one, they face a $500 fine and also could be banned from the parks.
Police are taking steps to catch people breaking the law and are asking for the public’s help identifying people using an off-road vehicle or an ATV in the parks.
The Parks Department and police say they are committed to preserving the beauty and accessibility of the trails and urge all park visitors to follow the posted rules.
