CLIMAX TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office Monday morning said the fatal victims whose vehicle was struck by a tree in Climax Township during a thunderstorm Sunday were all children.
The ages of the three children are a two-year-old female from Calhoun County and a four-year-old male from Calhoun County, who are siblings. The third child, also from Calhoun County, is an eleven-year-old female and cousin of the siblings.
The Sheriff’s Office says while the incident remains under investigation, it appears weather is the main contributing factor to the accident.
At 5:41 p.m. Sunday the Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a traffic collision on East S Avenue, just west of South 47th Street. That’s where they found that a tree had struck a vehicle.
Besides the three children who dies at the scene, three other individuals being treated at local hospitals for their injuries. One of the injured parties ws in critical condition and the other two are in stable condition
