LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – State lawmakers agree that Michigan’s roads need to be fixed and that there isn’t enough money being put toward it.
Where the money for the roads will come from remains the big question.
Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall, a Richland Township Republican, has passed a plan that funds local road fixes without any tax hike and adds it was the only bipartisan plan passed in 30 years.
Democrat Representative Carol Glanville of Walker says they need to find existing funds if possible for roads but says taxes or fees will need to rise.
Governor Whitmer said in her State of the State address that both parties will be unhappy with a plan that works, noting spending on some programs will need to be cut along with raising taxes.
