KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Hundreds of youth hockey players from all over the U.S. competed over the weekend in the USA Hockey 14U Tier II National Championship Tournament in Kalamazoo.
There were over 40 teams competing with around 800 players.
Kalamazoo Optimist Hockey Association executive director Matt Kakabeeke says it was the second time Kalamazoo hosted the competition and it generated nearly two-million-dollars for the local economy in five days.
He says KOHA has been encouraged to apply to host it again.
