KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The application process is now open for the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
They are seeking more public safety officers and people can apply until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
To be considered, one needs to be a U.S. citizen, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and be at least 21-years-old by December 1, 2025.
KDPS wants applicants who have integrity, a strong work ethic, and a desire to serve the community.
Public safety officers serve as both police and firefighters.
People who are currently working as a police officer with MCOLES certification or able to be certified, a firefighter, or a medical first responder can apply and are eligible for “significantly” higher starting wages along with a $15,000 hiring bonus.
