ZEELAND, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Hours after former Congressman Mike Rogers announced another bid for the U.S. Senate from Michigan, west Michigan Representative Bill Huizenga strongly hinted he might enter the race too.
On his X account, formerly Twitter, Huizenga Monday said he will consider a bid for the U.S. Senate seat that will be vacated in two years by retiring Democrat Gary Peters.
“After 25 years without a conservative voice in the Senate, Michigan needs someone who can win, in order to fight for our state, fight for small businesses, and fight for President Trump’s Agenda.”
“With the filing deadline nearly a year away and Team Huizenga raising more than $925,000, I will continue to talk with voters and ask them who they believe is the best candidate for Republicans to nominate and elect to serve Michigan in the U.S. Senate.”
Huizenga represents parts of western Michigan, including Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Holland. Before serving Michigan’s 4th District in Congress, Huizenga represented the 2nd District, from 2011-23.
While Rogers is the only Republican officially in the race, Tudor Dixon, the 2022 Republican gubernatorial candidate in Michigan, has hinted at a run.
