The Texas Rangers announced a pair of roster moves Thursday evening, including the team putting rookie right-handed pitcher Kumar Rocker (right shoulder impingement) on the 15-day injured list.
Rocker, 25, was the third overall pick of the Rangers in the 2022 draft. He had three appearances in 2024 before getting more time early in 2025. So far, Rocker is 1-3 this season with an 8.10 ERA in five appearances (all starts).
He had by far his most successful outing of the season in his first career win on April 17 against the Los Angeles Angels, striking out eight over seven innings while surrendering three runs on five hits and no walks.
Rocker followed that up by getting knocked out in the second inning in a 5-2 loss to the Athletics on Wednesday, surrendering seven hits and five runs in 1 2/3 innings.
To replace Rocker, the Rangers called up right-hander Gerson Garabito from Triple-A Round Rock.
Garabito, 29, has had three relief appearances covering eight innings for the Rangers in 2025 after 10 appearances last season. His career ERA sits at 5.77 over 34 1/3 innings.
