KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Similar to most labor markets in the state, Kalamazoo County’s seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate dropped in March.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget says the jobless rate for Kalamazoo County was 4.9% in March, down from 5.0% in February, but still up from 3.7% in March 2024.
75 of Michigan’s 83 counties saw unemployment rate reductions over the month.
Allegan County’s rate in March was 5.39%, with Calhoun County at 6.2%, St. Joseph County at 5.5%, Cass County at 5.7%, and Van Buren the highest in the region at 6.8%.
State officials says the biggest job gains in Michigan in March came in leisure and hospitality and in construction.
