PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Portage city council will get their first look this week at a new ordinance that would make being a really bad neighbor a misdemeanor.
For the past two meetings, Mark Mowrey and other residents on Quail Street have complained about one of their neighbors, who they say, hassles, surveils, bullies and assaults them.
The language in the proposed ordinance says it would apply to anyone who exhibits “repeated or continuing harassment or unconsented contact of another individual that would cause a reasonable person to feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated, threatened, harassed, or molested.”
City officials met with the neighborhood last week and the ordinance is apparently the result.
It would apply to all settings, not just neighborhoods.
If the council agrees Tuesday evening, it will appear on their next agenda for final approval.
