RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – 31-year-old Christopher Vandenburg of Kalamazoo is charged with unlawful driving away of an automobile after he was arrested early Tuesday morning in Richland Township.
Vandenburg was seen stealing a vehicle shortly before 2 a.m. in the 5300 block of North 28th Street, and was able to evade police after he drove through a fence to get off of the property.
Deputies were then called to the 7100 block of East D Avenue just after 3 a.m. for a home invasion in progress and saw him driving away. Vandenburg collided with two police cruisers while trying to do a U-turn along M-89.
He was caught after a foot chase.
Deputies say he had several warrants for his arrest and they found stolen mail in his vehicle as well.
Vandenburg was out on bond for a previous breaking and entering charge.
