KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Kalamazoo man has been found guilty of manslaughter in the 2024 shooting death of 53-year-old Mark Jackson of New Buffalo.
Jackson was visiting his daughter in Kalamazoo when he was shot and killed on April 9, 2024 around 10:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Interfaith Boulevard.
A jury found 20-year-old Jamyre Thompson guilty of manslaughter, two counts of felony firearm, resisting and obstructing police, and being a habitual offender.
Thompson will be sentenced May 28.
He was firing a gun into an occupied vehicle in an apartment complex parking lot, and one of the bullets went into the home of Jackson’s daughter, killing him.
