LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan Lottery officials say a Kalamazoo County man has claimed his million-dollar prize from winning the 50X instant game.
The 59-year-old chose to stay anonymous and says he scratched the barcode to see if he had won anything. When the screen told him to contact the Lottery, he decided to scratch off the play area to see what he had won.
He says he was in shock when he matched the number 1 to the million-dollar jackpot.
The man called winning “freeing, life-changing, and still settling in.”
He purchased the winning ticket at Ziggy’s at 5384 North Riverview Drive in Kalamazoo.
The man took a one-time lump sum payment of around $694,000 and says he will save the money and let his wife retire early.
