PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Four finalists will be interviewed by the Portage Public Schools board of trustees next week for the job of superintendent.
Twelve people applied to become the next leader of PPS, including current and former superintendents, assistant superintendents, principals, and central office administrators.
Wednesday, May 14, the board will interview Scott Warstler at 5:00 p.m. and Matt Olson at 6:30 p.m. Warstler is the chief operations officer for the Frisco Independent School District in Texas, and Olson is the assistant superintendent of Northwest Education Services.
Thursday, May 15, the interviews will be Portage Central High School principal Eric Alburtus at 4:30 p.m. and Portage Public Schools assistant superintendent Johnny Edwards at 6:00 p.m.
The interviews will be held in the Community Room of Portage Central High School at 8135 South Westnedge, and are open to the public.
Current Portage Public Schools superintendent Mark Bielang is retiring at the end of the school year.
The school board plans to have a new superintendent in place by July 1.
