GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The National Weather Service confirms 25 tornadoes have hit Michigan so far this year, which is the most since 2010 when 27 twisters touched down.
The record for the number of tornadoes for the entire year was set in 1974 with 39.
Since 2000, Michigan has averaged 13 tornadoes a year, and most develop between May and August.
Most of this year’s twisters have been in west Michigan.
