KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Public Safety is investigating vandalism that happened April 25 at the Bow in the Clouds Preserve.
An employee saw three people walking through the preserve around noon that day and says they were seen knocking over barricades. When they were approached, they responded with obscene gestures. The employee then set up a camera to monitor the area.
Around 11:30 p.m. that night, five people came back and caused a lot of damage to the excavating equipment.
They used baseball bats and spray paint to vandalize the machinery and did an estimated $100,000 in damage. The painted messages they left indicate a “clear protest against the equipment’s presence at the site.”
Public Safety is seeking information on who they are to make arrests. Anyone who thinks they know who they are is asked to call KDPS Criminal Investigations Division at (269) 337-8139 or leave an anonymous tip through Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100 or their P3Tips app. Tips can also be sent to KalamazooSilentObserver.com.
