LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum is running for the Democratic nomination for Secretary of State.
Byrum is 47 and previously served in the state House, and her mother Dianne is a former state Representative and Senator and currently serves on the Michigan State University Board of Trustees.
She has set a $30,000 fundraising goal for Friday.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson cannot run again due to term limits and is seeking the governor’s office. Aghogho Edevbie, who is currently deputy secretary of state, announced in January he would seek the state’s top elections role.
