COLDWATER, MI (WTVB/WNWN/WKZO )- Even though todays forecast called for mostly sunny skies you will have a difficult time seeing it. That is due to smoke from blowing in from the massive wildfires in Canada.
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy has declared an Air Quality Alert until 6 a.m. Saturday morning. They say pollutants in the area are expected to be in the unhealthy range or orange for sensitive groups and at times could reach unhealthy red levels. It’s recommended when possible to avoid strenuous outdoor activity especially those with heart or respiratory diseases like asthma.
Their are currently several fires burning in the Manitoba and Saskatchewan provinces in Canada, the smoke is blowing into Michigan on a cold front and forecasters say the haze could hang around for most of the weekend before skies begin to clear early next week.
