KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Four months after she says she was being fired by Bronson Healthcare for speaking out against new polices for her pediatric practice, a Kalamazoo area pediatrician Dr. Justine Bunka has filed a defamation lawsuit against the hospital system.
A Grand Rapids law firm filed the suit late Wednesday afternoon on behalf of Dr. Justine Bunka in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court
The complaint claims that Bronson administrators damaged Bunka’s reputation during and immediately following her dismissal from Bronson’s Rambling Road Pediatrics practice in Oshtemo Township.
The complaint lists Susan Shahwan, Dr. William Workman, Dr. Hussein Akl and Dr. Paul Fu, cliaming those Bronson leaders mounted a campaign to justify the termination and “thwart the growing public support for Bunka and other practitioners who were fired.”
