LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Two Michigan gubernatorial candidates in 2026 are speaking out on opposite sides in President Trump’s deployment of troops in Los Angeles to try to quell immigration protests.
State Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt said Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson “cheers on illegals and rioters in L.A.,” he will work “with POTUS and ICE to deport criminal illegals from our state and will NEVER let criminals burn our cities.”
Benson tweeted on Sunday that she is “appalled that President Trump is deploying our own military to quell protests against his regime” and added “it’s not who we are, it does not make us great, and I pray that no law-abiding people are hurt or worse due to this flagrant, tyrannical abuse of power.”
