KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – In an effort to provide Kalamazoo County residents with affordable access to tools for home maintenance and improvement, Community Homeworks will open a Tool Library later this month.
Community Homeworks Executive Director Chris Praedel says the Tool Library is the third core program of their organization, complementing the existing Critical Home Repair and Empowering Education programs. He says the initiative provides Kalamazoo County residents aged 18 and older with access to borrow a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and outdoor equipment on a pay-what-you-can membership basis for home projects.
The formal ribbon cutting and open house will take place Wednesday, June 25 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Community Homeworks headquarters located at 812 Bryant Street, Kalamazoo.
The open house from 2:00-4:00 p.m. that day will feature tours of the Tool Library and nonprofit headquarters, demonstrations, and opportunities to learn about upcoming workshops. Attendees can also explore the variety of tools available and speak with staff about how the Tool Library can assist with their home projects.
