“Jack Snyder Way” intersection request before Battle Creek city commission tonight

BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A request will be before the Battle Creek city commission this evening to name the intersection of Battle Creek Avenue and Capital Avenue SW “Jack Snyder Way.”

Snyder was a 17-year-old Battle Creek Central High School senior who was killed in a carjacking in February 2023 after offering two teens a ride home.

Then-14-year-old Justice Chimner pleaded guilty to felony murder, and 13-year-old Dewond Estes pleaded guilty to carjacking.

Mayor Mark Behnke and commissioners Jenaisa Morris and Carla Reynolds have been working on the request from Snyder’s parents for the honor.
