KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One man was injured and another is in custody after a shooting incident at the Fox Ridge Apartments in Kalamazoo Sunday.
At approximately 1:10 p.m., officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the 1300 block of Fox Ridge Drive for reports of a shooting.
When they arrived, officers located a 24-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
The investigation revealed that a physical altercation between two groups escalated into gunfire, resulting in the victim being shot. Evidence gathered during the investigation led to the identification of the suspected shooter.
A 19-year-old male was taken into custody in the 2600 block of West Michigan Avenue a short time later and is facing charges of Assault with Intent to Murder, Felony Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
Additionally, a second 19-year-old male was arrested for a probation violation, and a 25-year-old female was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Two firearms were recovered as part of the investigation.
