KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Kalamazoo man convicted for his role in a 2024 fatal shooting on Interfaith Boulevard has been sentenced to at least 10 years in prison.
Kalamazoo County Circuit Court by Judge Rebecca J. D’Angelo last Friday sentenced 20-year-old Jaymre Cameron Thompson to 10 to 15 years in prison for manslaughter in the death of 53-year-old Mark Jackson.
Thompson was convicted in April 2025 after firing multiple shots at an occupied vehicle, one of which fatally struck Jackson inside a nearby apartment. Jackson was visiting family at the time.
The judge also sentenced Thompson to two years each on a pair of felony firearm charges and 13 months to two years for resisting/obstructing a police officer. he was also ordered to pay $7,700 in restitution and court costs.
