KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The suspect in the June 12 fatal shooting of 47-year-old Sariah Robinson in a domestic dispute has been formally
arraigned and ordered held without bond.
55-year-old Robert H. Lofton is charged with Open Murder, Felony Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
June 13 at 2:09 p.m. officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the 1400 block of Woodward Avenue for a report of a shooting.
When they arrived officers found Robinson suffering from gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were immediately initiated, and she was transported to a local hospital, where she died of her injuries.
Witnesses identified Lofton as the suspect. Officers were able to locate him in the 4500 block of Lilac Lane in the City of Kalamazoo. As they approached to make contact, Lofton shot himself. He was taken to the hospital and survived his wounds.
