KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Western Michigan University president Edward Montgomery is retiring next week after spending the last eight years leading the university.
Montgomery says he enjoyed his time at WMU and says the school “is a really special place.”
Among his proudest accomplishments is finding different revenue sources, constructing new student housing and academic buildings, and retaining a school-record 81.1% of students last year.
He says retention rates, reputation, and revenue were his primary focus over his eight years.
Russell Kavalhuna will become WMU’s new president July 1.
