WHITE PIGEON TOWNSHIP (WTVB) – For the second time this week there has been a fatal accident in St. Joseph County.
This time a golf cart driver is dead following a crash that happened Tuesday evening in the area of Lake Road and Stone Road in White Pigeon Township. Police say a pickup truck rear-ended the golf cart.
The golf cart driver, only identified as a 61-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed and drugs are considered to be factors in the crash, though charges against the truck driver have not been announced.
The accident does remains under investigation.
It comes just two days after the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office says alcohol was a factor in a crash the killed 20-year old Edgar Eduardo Hernandez-Alcantar of Sturgis. Police have not released the name of the 20-year-old driver, pending possible charges.
As of Wednesday afternoon, he was still in the hospital in stable condition.
