KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Public Schools set their fall curriculum earlier this spring, but the school board has agreed to add some pilot courses to the mix.
Assistant superintendent Angela Justice says the pilot courses they chose were recommended by teachers and principals.
She says individual schools would host each pilot. Here are some of them.
Dr. Justice says some will lift middle school students who need a little additional help, others will introduce new cultural opportunities, basic and advanced computer coding, and one will prepare Kalamazoo Central High School students for a particularly challenging Advanced Placement course.
She says the pilots help refine new course ideas, evaluate them, identify potential challenges, and collect feedback from students and teachers, for possible expansion district wide.
They will start their trial run this fall.
