KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) -Work begins Monday, July 7 on a major project to rebuild and expand the capacity of Arcadia Creek.
City officials say the multi-year effort will reduce flooding risks, modernize infrastructure, and support sustainable growth in Kalamazoo’s core.
The first phase of work, led by the developers of the new event center, includes utility upgrades and floodplain modifications beneath Westnedge Avenue. Westnedge will be closed between Kalamazoo Avenue and Michigan Avenue through mid-August, with traffic detoured via Michikal Street.
In mid-August, one lane of Westnedge will reopen south of Water Street.
