Portage urging drivers to find alternate route as eastbound West Centre Avenue at Shaver Road will have lanes closed

PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Drivers in Portage are being urged to seek an alternate route if they need to get through eastbound West Centre Avenue west of Shaver Road.

The city says both eastbound lanes of West Centre Avenue will be closed until Friday, weather permitting, to allow Consumers Energy to repair a gas main leak at the intersection of West Centre Avenue and Shaver Road.

Eastbound traffic will be merged down to one lane and routed around the closure using the center left turn lane. Significant traffic delays are expected in the area.

The westbound curb lane of East Centre Avenue will also be closed for the work.
