KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo has announced the artists selected for the inaugural 2025 Brush the Block mural festival, which will be held from September 2nd through 7th.
Seven artists will transform public spaces in Kalamazoo with “bold, original murals designed to inspire and connect the community.”
Attendees at the July 11 Art Hop were the first to learn who was selected from a pool of applicants, and the official festival schedule has also been released.
The muralists are:
Amy O’Donnell Lueth, who will paint a mural on the Haymarket Building at 161 East Michigan Avenue
DBL VSN, who are Chafe Hensley and Heidi Weiss and they will paint on The Stamped Robin at 128 Portage Street
Dania Grenvoed, who will paint the Main Street East Building at 251 East Michigan Avenue
Ellen VanderMyde, who will collaborate with the Northside Association for Community Development and paint their building at 612 North Park Street
Maya Sophia Ananda James, who will paint the Metro Transit Building at 459 North Burdick Street
Patrick Hershberger, who will paint in Farmers Alley at 145 Farmers Alley
The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo says the artists will each bring a unique voice to the project, and their murals will appear across several prominent downtown locations.
