KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Kalamazoo County Commissioner is facing charges for an alleged domestic assault earlier this year.
St. Joseph County Prosecuting Attorney Deborah J. Davis announced Wednesday that two felony charges of Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer and two misdemeanor charges of Domestic Violence (First Offense) have been authorized against Tami Rayshawn Rey of Kalamazoo.
The alleged offenses occurred in the City of Kalamazoo May 23, 2025, and were investigated by officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
The case was assigned to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office due to a conflict of interest declared by the Kalamazoo County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
According to Davis’ office, the case is scheduled for proceedings in the Kalamazoo County District Court. She says no further details will be released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the judicial process and ensure fair proceedings
