JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Three men have been arrested and charged in the shooting death of a Marshall man killed Easter morning in Jackson.
21-year-old Bryan Michael Johnson, 35-year-old Jemel Earl Milton, and 40-year-old Phillip Leslie Gauze were arraigned July 16 on charges of first-degree murder and unarmed robbery in Jackson County.
According to Jackson Police Chief Christopher Simpson, police were called for a welfare check by his family and found 45-year-old John Lusch at a Jackson home in 900 block of Orchard Place.
The investigation shows Lusch arrived early Sunday morning at the home, where several people confronted him. Lusch was shot multiple times and died of his injuries at he scene.
The three men are scheduled for a probable cause conference hearing July 25 before Jackson County District Judge Allison Bates. All three are being held in the county jail without bond.
All three men have criminal histories leading up to the shooting.
Johnson had previously served probation on methamphetamine and obstruction charges out of Jackson County.
Milton served 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to arson out of Oakland County. He was released in 2023.
Gauze had previously been convicted of operating a meth lab in 2017 and again in 2018, he is also currently awaiting trial on two other felony cases, one for more meth lab charges and the other for fraud.
The three men face a mandatory sentence of life without the possibility of parole if convicted.
