KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Kalamazoo College has announced it will be reducing its staff for the upcoming academic year due to financial reasons.
In a release, the college said the reduction is due to pressures that impact the college’s operating financial results. These financial challenges include shifting student demographics, and the inflationary environment.
In all, 11 staff positions have been eliminated, including part-time and full-time staff, and a mix of hourly and salaried employees across multiple divisions. Three other positions were modified with reduced appointments or altered job duties.
The college insists their outlook remains strong, and points to their recent Brighter Light Campaign that raised vital funding for some immediate needs and long-term priorities.
