BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Armstrong Road in Battle Creek is closed until Monday, August 4 north of West Dickman Road.
City officials say the closure and detour are to allow city sewer crews to complete repair work on a broken storm sewer.
That is needed due to a water main casing having penetrated the roof of the storm sewer pipe. The damage resulted in a sink hole, and the Michigan Department of Transportation contacted Battle Creek’s Engineering Division to investigate it.
They discovered the damaged storm sewer pipe and the need for repairs after they cleaned and televised the storm sewer.
The detour will take people along West Dickman Road to Clark Road and River Road West.
Battle Creek Transit will also have to detour buses during the repair work.
During this detour, the 5W bus will travel outbound on West Dickman Road, turn right on to the service drive after the VA Laundry to service the Battle Creek VA Medical Center, exit through the service drive, and then turn left on Dickman to resume its route.
Bus stops located on West Dickman Road at Adient, Armstrong Road at Adient, outbound and inbound, and Dickman before Fritz Keiper Boulevard will be closed. BCT riders are encouraged to use the closest stops, which would be located at the VA Laundry, VA Medical Center or Fritz Keiper at WSI.
