KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – You might see a helicopter towing a big hexagon over well fields in Texas, Oshtemo, Comstock, and Ross Townships next week.
It’s part of a survey to help protect drinking water for the City of Kalamazoo.
The week of August 4, the City will conduct an airborne survey of underground aquifers. The helicopter will fly in a grid pattern about 100 feet up, using a hexagonal antenna to map the geology below, up to 900 feet deep!
Survey flights will only take place over open areas, not over homes or buildings.
