KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) -A 24-year-old Kalamazoo man is dead after a two vehicle crash in early Saturday.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says around 2:00 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Riverview and East Paterson for a traffic crash. They found two vehicles with heavy damage. One of the vehicles was located off the roadway with the driver trapped and the second vehicle was found unoccupied near the intersection.
There was smoke and fire coming from underneath the car. The fire was extinguished, and the driver was extricated. They say life saving measures were immediately started, however his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced on scene.
His name is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified.
The driver and the passenger of the second vehicle have not been located at this time.
Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.
