SALEM TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured Saturday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle that apparently ran a stop sign in Allegan County.
Just after 4:30 pm, Allegan County Central Dispatch received notification from Ottawa County Central Dispatch of a crash in the area of 26th Street and Ottogan Street in Salem Township for a serious injury crash involving a motorcycle and sedan.
Units from Jamestown Township Fire Department and the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office were on scene providing treatment to the involved parties.
Police say their preliminary investigation shows a motorcycle was eastbound on Ottogan Street at 26th Street when a northbound sedan failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle and struck the motorcycle.
The sedan was occupied by two individuals who had no injuries.
The motorcycle driver was transported to Corewell Health Hospital with serious injuries from the crash.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office says names of the involved parties are being withheld while the case remains under investigation.
The Sheriff Office was assisted by and would like to thank Allegan County Central Dispatch, Ottawa County Dispatch, Ottawa County Sheriffs Office, Life EMS, Jamestown Township Fire Department, Salem Fire Department, and the Allegan County Sheriffs Office reconstruction team.
