KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo city commissioners are trying to make their search for a new city manager as transparent as possible, but not everyone is satisfied.
Consultant Pamela Wideman will meet this morning with a broad range of stakeholders to get their input.
Several members from ISAAC, Interfaith Strategy for Advocacy & Action in the Community, felt the stakeholders meeting planned by the city is not inclusive enough and they want one of their own.
Here are Meg Adams and Charlae Davis.
Wideman says she isn’t scheduled to be back in Kalamazoo until October.
The city is working under a tight deadline, with a tentative date for a selection set for late October. That would permit a working manager to give his or her employer notice, before current City Manager Jim Ritsema is set to leave in November.
Vice Mayor Jeanne Hess asked Wideman what their chances are of finding a manager on their first round. She was optimistic.
Battle Creek could decide tonight who will be their next city manager after going through two rounds. They have been working with an interim city manager since last November.
