Alycia Parks knocked out top-seeded Emma Navarro 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in an all-U.S. second-round match at the Abierto GNP Seguros on Wednesday in Monterrey, Mexico.
After dropping the first set, Parks got the lone service break of the second set for a 2-0 lead. She added breaks on each of Navarro’s first three service games of the final set to pull away.
Next up for Parks is Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova, who rallied past seventh-seeded Leylah Fernandez of Canada 2-6, 6-3, 6-2
Third-seeded Diana Shnaider won 7-6 (3), 6-1 in an all-Russian matchup against Kamilla Rakhimova, but fourth-seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil fell 6-3, 6-4 to the Czech Republic’s Marie Bouzkova.
Fifth-seeded Elise Mertens of Belgium cruised past Croatia’s Donna Vekic 6-3, 6-3, and sixth-seeded Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic downed Germany’s Tatjana Maria 6-3, 6-2.
Croatia’s Antonia Ruzic downed Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto 7-6 (2), 2-6, 6-0.
In the last match of the night, second-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova of Russia opposed Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic.

Top-seeded Liudmila Samsonova of Russia overcame eight double faults while topping China’s Yafan Wang 6-2, 6-4 in the second round at Cleveland.
Samsonova, ranked 19th in the world, had lost her opening match in back-to-back tournaments since reaching the quarterfinals at Wimbledon.
In the only other match that was completed on Wednesday, Romania’s Sorana Cirstea routed Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann 6-1, 6-1 in just over an hour.
