STURGIS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 66-year-old St. Joseph County man says he will retire early after winning $2 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s $2,000,000 Lucky instant game.
He chose to remain anonymous when he claimed his prize at Michigan Lottery headquarters and says he typically just plays $5 and $10 scratch-off tickets but thought he’d give the new game a try.
The man says when the “$2MIL” symbol came up on the last part of the ticket, he thought it was a losing entry because he never thought he would win the top prize.
He bought the ticket at Lightning Quick Gas N Go at 1560 East Chicago Road in Sturgis. He took a lump-sum payment of $1.3 million and says he will be traveling.
Michigan Lottery players have won more than $27 million playing $2,000,000 Lucky, which launched in May. Each $20 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $20 up to $2 million. More than $77 million in prizes remain, including two $2 million top prizes, and 52 $2,000 prizes.
