KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The business community is being invited to help shape Kalamazoo’s draft housing framework.
The event will be held this Thursday, September 11 from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at The Catalyst Center.
Hosted by Southwest Michigan First and The Chamber, the session is designed to gather input from local leaders on solutions to address homelessness and strengthen the full housing system. Businesses are encouraged to share insights, ask questions, and help guide strategies that will benefit both residents and the local economy.
Together with the City of Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, and other related service organizations, a draft housing framework has been designed that Southwest Michigan First says will bring alignment, coordination, and lasting impact across the entire housing continuum, from emergency shelter to affordable homeownership.
They say the framework envisions “a resilient housing ecosystem supported by long-term public-private partnerships and grounded in equity, data, and lived experience, with the goal to both provide relief to businesses who have struggled to deal with some of the impacts of today’s current realities, and to ensure every resident in Kalamazoo County has access to a safe, stable, and affordable home.”
