LONDON (Reuters) -Magnum CEO Peter ter Kulve dismissed any talk of selling Ben & Jerry’s on Wednesday after its co-founders called for the brand to be spun off, adding that the company was focused on reclaiming market share and volume growth as its November listing approaches.
Ben & Jerry’s seized the spotlight at the new Magnum Ice Cream Company’s investor day on Tuesday, renewing a call for its own spin-off as Unilever’s ice cream unit presented plans to investors and giving the new firm a major headache as it tries to boost growth and win over health-conscious consumers.
“Ben & Jerry’s is not for sale,” ter Kulve said in an interview.
Asked about an approach led by Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield to buy the brand last year, ter Kulve said: “I have not been privy to any discussion between Unilever and Ben & Jerry.
