LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Sue Carnell will serve as Michigan’s interim state superintendent starting early next month. She will be the first Black woman to serve in the post.
The Michigan Department of Education is currently working to reach a contract with Glenn Maleyko, the current superintendent of Dearborn Public Schools, who was selected last month to succeed Dr. Michael Rice, who is retiring October 3.
State school board member Tom McMillin says there has been talk that Maleyko will need to stay on the job in Dearborn through December.
