ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Bird flu has been confirmed in a backyard poultry flock in Allegan County.
Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza is extremely contagious and circulates when birds are migrating in the spring and fall.
Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development director Dr. Tim Boring says the homeowner was working with a veterinarian when the illness was confirmed.
Since 2022, there have been over two-dozen bird flu cases in west Michigan.
