BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Old electrical wiring is suspected as the cause of an attic fire at a Battle Creek home early Sunday.
Firefighters responded to the home on Upton Avenue shortly before 3:00 a.m. after reports of smoke coming from the roofline.
According to the Battle Creek Fire Department, crews arrived within two minutes and found fire in the attic. The fire was brought under control in about 10 minutes and contained to the attic.
The attic sustained fire damage, and water damage affected the first and second floors.
No injuries were reported.
