LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The new state budget cuts 1,800 full-time jobs, but Governor Gretchen Whitmer says no layoffs will happen.
Most of the job cuts are from Michigan State Police, the Michigan Department of Corrections, and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
Whitmer says state government will be a little bit smaller, but no one will be laid off and “we’re going to be able to deliver the most crucial services for Michiganders.”
She added she has “been working my tail off on the budget” over the last several weeks.
