BIG RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Ferris State University officials are saying no to a proposal by the Mecosta County Board of Commissioners to erect a statue on campus to conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.
The board voted five to one on September 18th to send a letter to FSU president Bill Pink about the statue, saying Kirk should be commemorated because he “influenced millions of people across our great nation.”
Pink responded in a letter, declining the statute proposal.
In his letter, he says FSU condemns all acts of violence and extend their sympathies regarding Kirk’s shooting death, “the University follows a longstanding practice that limits statues on campus to individuals who have made significant, direct contributions to Ferris State University itself.”
